Military-Inspired-Honda-Cub-C70

Updated: Mar 17, 2018

The Honda cub. One of the most successful motorcycles ever existed. With proof the recent event of selling over 100 million pieces its truly astonishing what simple engineering and good marketing can achieve. Even in our small island the small cub is well known for its bulletproof engine, timeless looks and mail deliveries’. Apparently back in the day it was the post office favourite way of transport.

But the cub that we feature today is something more than just a mail delivery. What started as a bare frame that was found rusted beaten up and half buried in the fields of Pyla village, after a lot of love and time it became what you are seeing.

But it wasn’t exactly a piece of cake. The ‘leading link’ forks where refurbished with new bushings and springs. The seat was custom made and upholstered and a straight bar conversion plate was machined. The rest of the parts are all new just because the original ones didn’t exist. Along with the engine, I know that the purists are getting all over their keyboards about the aftermarket engine, but finding an original Honda motor is as rare as snow in Cyprus. Plus the extra gear and electric starter make it easier to live with. Also in case you haven’t figured out yet the frame was chopped to give the cub a more aggressive look to suit the military theme.

What’s up with the military theme you may ask? Well it happens that when I build it (yes I am responsible for this) I was serving in the army. And got inspired by the armoured vehicles. Details are all over this build such as fake bullets over the speedo that is relocated in the centre of the leg shield and a battery case from an ammo can. Also the decals add so much character. To sum up although it’s a simple build it oozes with character. Special thanks to everyone that helped with this build.
